Your files never leave your device

Most "free" converters make you upload your file to their server first. That means a copy of whatever you're converting, whether it's a photo, a PDF, someone's ID, or a document with real information in it, leaves your device and lands on a computer you have no control over. Maybe they delete it right away like they claim. Maybe they don't. Maybe it sits in a log somewhere, or gets swept up if that server's ever breached. You're just trusting a stranger. Lotus Convert never asks you to make that bet. Every tool here runs using capabilities your browser already has built in, the same rendering and decoding engine it uses to display web pages and play videos, so your file gets converted directly on your own device. It never leaves. You could turn your Wi-Fi off after the page loads and every tool here would still work fine.

Runs entirely on your device

Shrink a PDF down to a smaller file size.

Drop your PDF in and your browser will clear out unnecessary data and repack it more efficiently. It works best on PDFs with a lot of fonts or metadata. If yours is mostly scanned images, don't expect a huge difference.

Nothing loaded yet. Drop a PDF up top to shrink it.

How this actually works

Compressing repackages the PDF's internal structure — clears out redundant data, consolidates things — using a library that runs right in your browser. Works best on PDFs full of text and fonts. If yours is mostly scanned images, don't expect much of a difference, since we're not touching the images themselves.

Why didn't my file get smaller?
Some PDFs are already pretty tight, especially if they came from a modern export tool. You'll still get a valid file back either way.
Will this reduce image quality inside the PDF?
Nope. This just restructures the file, it doesn't touch the images inside it.
Can I compress a PDF for email without uploading it?
Yep. The whole thing runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

About Lotus Convert

This is a small set of tools built by one woman who got tired of "free" converters that make you upload a file just to change its format. Everything here runs in your own browser instead, so there's no server in the middle holding your files. No huge company behind it, no investors, just something built to work the way a tool like this should.

The site is supported by ads (you'll see them on the page) rather than accounts or subscriptions — that's what keeps every tool free with no file limits and no watermark. See the privacy policy for details on how those ads work.
