Most "free" converters make you upload your file to their server first. That means a copy of whatever you're converting, whether it's a photo, a PDF, someone's ID, or a document with real information in it, leaves your device and lands on a computer you have no control over. Maybe they delete it right away like they claim. Maybe they don't. Maybe it sits in a log somewhere, or gets swept up if that server's ever breached. You're just trusting a stranger. Lotus Convert never asks you to make that bet. Every tool here runs using capabilities your browser already has built in, the same rendering and decoding engine it uses to display web pages and play videos, so your file gets converted directly on your own device. It never leaves. You could turn your Wi-Fi off after the page loads and every tool here would still work fine.

How this actually works

Your browser's PDF engine reads the text layer straight out of the file, page by page, and groups it back into paragraphs based on where each line sits on the page. That text gets wrapped into a Word-compatible .doc file you can download and keep editing. Nothing is uploaded — if the PDF has no text layer (a scan or a photo saved as a PDF), there's nothing to extract, and this tool will tell you that instead of guessing.

Will this keep the original formatting and layout?
No. It pulls out the text itself into paragraphs, not the exact fonts, columns, or layout. It's for getting editable text out fast, not a pixel-perfect copy.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF already has a text layer. A scanned page that's really just a photo has no text to pull, and this tool doesn't do OCR.
What file do I get?
A .doc file that opens directly in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice, with page breaks kept in place.
